Trinity
College Dublin is the sole constituent college of the
University of Dublin founded in 1592 and enjoys an honoured
reputation in research and innovation. TCD hosts one
of the largest computer science departments within Ireland
and the UK. In the project TCD is represented by the
Knowledge and Data Engineering Research group which
has established a very strong reputation in the research
of hypermedia information systems, virtual (simulation)
environments and intelligent pedagogic systems and has
won many ‘best research’ and ‘best
paper’ awards at international conferences in
these areas. The research group has been involved in
numerous research and development projects, recently
iClass and ELEKTRA. Moreover, TCD established a Centre
for Learning Technology, whose role it is to enable
e-learning technology within the university as well
as foster e-learning in the broader Irish context. This
centre is under the direction of Vincent Wade and comprises
experts in pedagogy, information and communication technology,
and service delivery.
In 80Days, TCD will
primarily work on the technical implementation of intelligent
adaptive educational technologies and on the investigation
of related research questions.
