The University of Leicester is one of the UK’s leading research and teaching universities. The University was founded as a University College in 1921 and granted a Royal Charter in 1957. The University has been ranked in the UK’s top twenty universities in three consecutive years since 2001. In 80Days ULE is represented by the Department of Computer Science, a young and dynamic department in the midst of rapid expansion in the scope of its research and teaching activities. Research in the department is structured in several areas that contribute to a number of national and international research projects and networks, including human-computer interaction, software engineering, algorithms, and program analysis. The department has actively been involved in EC-funded projects and is currently a partner of iCamp (concerned with technology-enhanced learning) , inContext (dealing with web-based collaborative work environments), SENSORIA (dealing with e-government, e-science and other areas), Leg2Net (concerned with re-engineering of legacy applications), and WEE-NET (dealing with web engineering).

The University of Leicester is responsible for the research, design, coordination, and implementation of the evaluation and validation work on the educational efficacy, software quality, and user experience of the digital gaming environment to be developed in the project.
